You were right to be curious — Côte‑Rôtie 2021 from Domaine Bernard Burgaud is absolutely in line with the vintage’s charm. Like many 2021s, it’s young, fresh and wonderfully approachable already.

The bouquet is lovely: pepper, violets and ripe blackberry form a classic and elegant northern Rhône profile. It’s expressive without being heavy, and beautifully balanced.

On the palate, the wine is fresh and concentrated, with cherry lasting nicely in the mouth. Soft tannins give it structure while keeping it accessible — a hallmark of Burgaud’s style.

The domaine, now run by Pierre Burgaud, continues to produce just one cuvée, but from several lieu‑dits, giving it depth and complexity. And as always, being welcomed there is a pleasure — your plan to return next June fits perfectly.
