To get ready for your northern Rhône trip, opening Les Eygats 2016 from Domaine Courbis was a perfect choice. In the glass, the wine shows a deep red, clear color, already hinting at its precision and strength.

The nose is absolutely terrific: spices, ground pepper and garrigue form a powerful and classic Cornas trio. It’s a great combination that immediately pulls you in.

On the palate, the wine adds blackberry and cassis, carried by vibrant acidity that gives a long, energetic stay at the palate. The structure is full‑bodied, intense and beautifully balanced.

Cellaring it for a few years was definitely the right decision — the wine is showing depth, elegance and the unmistakable Courbis signature.

A great show, and a perfect warm‑up for Cornas, Hermitage and Côte‑Rôtie.
