Domaine Gangloff – Côte-Rôtie La Sereine Noire 2016

La Sereine Noire 2016 from Domaine Gangloff shows a dark ruby color and benefits from about two hours of air after opening. The nose is expressive with black raspberry, used leather, pepper and an additional wave of black fruits that adds depth and richness.

On the palate, the wine offers fine tannins and a gentle hint of oak. Despite its power, it remains very elegant, smooth and fresh. The balanced structure and the modest 13% alcohol contribute to a long, pleasant finish.

Interestingly, the label reads La Serene Noir, while most references call it La Sereine Noire — but in the end, what matters is the wine inside the bottle. Made from the sereine grape, a variant of Syrah found mainly in the northern Rhône, this cuvée shows the finesse and character typical of Gangloff.

Cheers!
